Open Letter to Congressman Tom Parriello
Congressman,
As I have written before, I am asking you to strongly consider voting NO on the health care reform bill that the President it trying to push through.
I can certainly see the need for health care reform, but creating a socialized medical system is not the answer to our problems. While I certainly feel health insurance is to expensive, unavailable, and corrupt, I stand strongly opposed to any legislation that would increase the debt we are handing down to our children.
We must act responsibly to spend within our means, and hopefully in the process some civic justice can prevail. However as a tax paying citizen of this country I would be very angry and upset if my government decide to take over another 17% of our economy. Certainly another great Virginian would agree with me. Thomas Jefferson would be highly opposed to this Hamiltonian federal intrusion of personal rights.
This is not an issue of party as both parties are guilty of expanding our government in ways that destroy our liberty while heaping debt on the heads of our children and grandchildren. Look at the damage other big government programs have done. Take for instance no child left behind, which has destroyed our school system, reducing teachers to helping kids pass tests instead of educating free thinkers of tomorrow. Look at how problematic Social Security is. Do we really think the federal government can do a better job of managing our health? Anyone who has stood in line at the DMV, or Post Office should understand how poorly our government runs social programs.
As a small business owner I am almost speechless at how reckless our Congress has been this last decade with its spending practices. No business could ever survive the kind of fiscal irresponsibility that plagues are governments at federal, state, and local levels.
As a voter in your district I am asking you not to be a part of this corrupt government system, and instead to stand up as a voice for this community. We did not vote you in because we thought you know best for us. We did not vote you in so that you can express your views on the hill. We voted you in to represent our hearts and minds to the rest of this great nation. I hope you strongly consider the opinions of the voters in your state before you make your decision. How you vote could effect the lives of hard working people who want a fair chance to prosper. Don’t sell us out like this. Stand up for us.
Respectfully
Aaron Mills
Local Business Owner
